Monmouth County Republican Checklist for the Week

9/26/2006

Hello Fellow Republicans!
The Countdown is on... We now have less than 45 days to go till the Election Day victory of Rosemarie Peters, Andrew Lucas, and Freeholder Anna Little. Now more than ever we need your help! Remember you can always contact me at 732-431-6664 or
heatherbgop@gmail.com for information, or to make your own suggestions.
Now, here is the week’s rundown of what we need from you:

GET OUT THE VOTE RALLY: Save the Date. October 12, 7pm at Brookdale Community College. We’ll host a special Get-out-the-vote meeting to bring every town’s Republican campaign together. We will coordinate efforts such as door knocking, challenger phone banks, etc. If we stick together, there’s nothing to stop us.

Republicans Wanted: The MCRC needs you! We have a lot of objectives, from letter stuffing to phone calls, that we need help in achieving. Remember, we have both an hourly system and a take home work system available for volunteers.

Fill up the seats: With countdown coming to a close, there will be many debate-type events which we will need you to attend in our candidate’s names. Please contact campaign manager Mark Duffy at 732-431-6664.

Sign Locations Help: A special thank you to all who participated in sign Saturdays. Now that we have this advertising ready, we need your input and advice on how to best place the signs we have to promote the party. With your help, we can show Democrats that this November will be a red victory!

We need your voices to be heard!: Recently, we have expanded and improved our grassroots programs to offer new ways for you to use your voice for us:

E-Mail Phone Lists: With your permission, we are now able to email phone lists and scripts to you so you can support the Republican Committee on your own time. Perfect for the committee member or volunteer with the busy schedule! We can even narrow your lists to your town or district.

Dear Editor: We have recently started a team of volunteers who will be writing and sending letters to the editor highlighting our candidates, our issues, and the committee’s recent advances to improving the campaign process. With so much to cover, we are always looking for new members to this highly needed objective.

Phone Bank: When I first started at the MCRC, I initiated a new hourly program which would assist volunteers in setting their time in the office as if they do for work.

On behalf of Chairman Puharic, we are grateful for all of the help and volunteerism! Please contact me at 732-431-6664 or heatherbgop@gmail.com for more information about how you can help the Monmouth County Republican Committee.

Git-R-Done

A "Wireside Chat" from Chairman Adam Puharic
9/25/2006

One hundred 4X4 signs. Over 500 lawn signs. When Monmouth County woke up on Saturday, September 23rd, they were greeted by a show of strength in support of our great candidates Rosemarie Peters, Andrew Lucas, and Freeholder Anna Little. This support was made possible by the ten (that’s right only 10) hardest working Republicans. I don’t want to tell you how late they worked. I don’t want to tell you how many signs they lifted. I don’t want to tell you how many signs were installed by hand when the power augers failed.
I do want to tell you that when we win this November, please remember it was on their backs we were carried. I bought some baseball caps for them, with the words, “Git-R-Done” on them. To me, it talked about their spirit. We were left as a party without the institutional memory, or the sign locations, or the manpower to carry on a grand county tradition of strong sign presence. Git-R-Done. We were all new (except for the wise Allen Hodgson) and unsure of what to do. Git-R-Done. None of our sign crew is bucking for a title, or position within this party. Git-R-Done.
When we win -- and Rosemarie, Andrew, and Anna will win -- please take a moment to thank:

John Cantalupo
Allen Hodgson
Rich Weiner
Michael Skudera
Jerry DelTufo
Anonymous friend from a shore town in southern monmouth
Mr. Lucas (Andrew’s dad)
Michael Supko
Bill Palat
Brett Palat

P.S. When you see them at tomorrow’s candidate fundraiser event at Branches, please remember to thank them. Yes, I know there is a crooked sign on 537. And yes, there’s one that blew down in Red Bank. But don’t criticize them first. Thank them. We’ll fix the downed signs. You can never fix a missed opportunity to say thank you.

Wishing you a prosperous and sweet Rosh Hashanah

A "Wireside Chat" from Chairman Adam Puharic
9/21/2006

Dear fellow Republicans:
Tomorrow begins the celebration of Rosh Hashanah for our Jewish friends and neighbors. Rosh Hashanah is commonly known as the Jewish New Year. I wanted to extend best wishes on behalf of Rosemarie Peters, Andrew Lucas, and Freeholder Anna Little.
A popular observance during this holiday is eating apples dipped in honey, a symbol of the wish for a sweet new year. I’m wishing you and your family a bushel full of apples, and a pot full of honey. I know you agree that in Monmouth County, we have been blessed to enjoy prosperity and freedom, in one of the most beautiful places on earth. May the new year bring us all sweetness and prosperity.

Peters, Lucas & Little Launch Vision for Monmouth County's Future

Focuses on Streamlining Spending, Creating Efficiencies & Advocating for Taxpayers
For Immediate Release

September 13, 2006
Contact: Mark Duffy 732-431-6664

Freehold Borough, NJ – Monmouth County Republican candidates for Surrogate and Freeholder today announced their campaign platform: streamline county spending, create government efficiencies that will provide county tax relief, and provide forceful advocacy for Monmouth County taxpayers now being shortchanged state school and municipal aid by the Democrat majority in Trenton.
“Taxpayers in Monmouth County need county officials who will fight for their interests,” said GOP Surrogate candidate Rosemarie Peters. “One of the main reasons property taxes keep rising locally is that the Trenton Democrats keep denying most of our suburban towns our fair share of state aid.”
Since 2001, when they took majority control in Trenton, the Democrats have increased spending by $9 BILLION. Much of that money has flowed to Newark, Camden and Paterson to the detriment of Monmouth County. But Trenton Democrats have cut state aid to many Monmouth County school districts and municipal governments. Those losses, in many cases, have been compensated for with increases in school and local property taxes.
“Most Monmouth County taxpayers pay a dollar to Trenton in state taxes only to get back nickels and dimes in state aid. Newark and Camden pay nickels and dimes to Trenton and get back dollars in state aid. We here in many Monmouth County towns shoulder an unfair burden paid for in both higher state taxes and higher property taxes,” said candidate for Freeholder Andrew Lucas. “We will lobby aggressively on behalf of Monmouth’s taxpayers to change these inequities.”
Peters, Lucas and Little will work to eliminate the duplication of services in an effort to reduce spending and provide property tax relief for Monmouth County families. Republicans support the Freeholder Board’s efforts in creating a Monmouth County Intergovernmental Partnership Program that will improve the way our towns do business with the county in order to save tax dollars.
“By building partnerships between local and county government we can streamline spending and eliminate duplication,” said candidate for Freeholder Andrew Lucas. “While serving on township committee in Manalapan, we were able to use the Monmouth County Improvement Authority’s pooled leasing program, saving taxpayers thousands of dollars in bonding fees. Increased use of the Monmouth County Improvement Authority by municipalities will help replicate this type of savings on a county-wide basis.”
Monmouth County has been the model when it comes to keeping retirement and benefit costs affordable. Trenton Democrats, however, continue to increase the size and the cost of state government. Peters, Lucas and Little call on Trenton Democrat leaders to use Monmouth County as an example in their effort to reduce the cost of retirement and health benefits to taxpayers.
“We need to be the model for the state and set the standard in fiscal responsibility. We have a good system here and they should follow our lead,” said Little. “Through natural attrition and right sizing county government, we can reduce the cost of government which will result in future property tax relief,” Little concluded.

Join us in remembering with the citizens of Middletown on September 11th at 7pm

A "Wireside Chat" from Chairman Adam Puharic
9/8/2006

Dear fellow Republicans:
Five years ago this Monday, terrorist murderers shattered our illusion of protection and safety from extremism, killed almost 3,000 of our citizens, and forced our President’s hand in launching this War on Terror. It is important for us all to take a moment, reflect on our losses, and to share in the pride of this great nation – embodied in the daily sacrifice of firefighters, police, sheriff’s officers, emergency responders, and most all our courageous men and women in uniform. We mourn the loss of our brother and sister Americans, yet we know that we are a better nation for their sacrifice.
The lesson for me on this coming fifth anniversary of the September the 11th terror attacks is that when America is united, there is no force than can tear us apart. President George W. Bush once said that though terrorists might bring down our tall buildings, they can not tear apart the fabric that holds this great land together. As the son of immigrants from Croatia, I know that fabric is woven of freedom, opportunity and tolerance. I pray for unity in the name of our overseas troops, and hope you will join me in this humble prayer.
Below is information on the remembrance ceremony planned for Middletown on September the 11th at 7pm. As you well know, Middletown lost more residents to that terrible day than any other municipality in Monmouth County. I hope you will consider attending and standing side by side with your fellow citizens – of every political stripe – to send a strong message that America mourns those lost, but will never lose.
Remember, when we are united – nothing can stop us.

Middletown plans Sept. 11 tribute

KEYPORT BUREAU
MIDDLETOWN — The township will pay tribute this year to the 37 residents it lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a ceremony at its World Trade Center Memorial on Church Street.
The memorial event will take place 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the memorial gardens, adjacent to the train station. It will be held rain or shine.
The ceremony will honor the victims and the victims' families during the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. It will feature a candle-lighting ceremony to commemorate the 37 victims.
Live music, a presentation of colors and remarks from community representatives also will be a part of the evening.
Mayor Thomas G. Hall said the ceremony will be simple and respectful.
After the event, those who attend will be invited to walk through the gardens, which have a landscaped walking path and have individual memorials for each lost resident.
Constructed by local contractors who donated time and materials, the memorial gardens were developed under the guidance of the nonprofit Middletown World Trade Center Committee, which still maintains the gardens.

Lucas Statement on Gibadlo Nomination

For Immediate ReleaseSeptember 1, 2006
Contact: Mark Duffy 732-431-6664

Freehold, NJ – Monmouth County Republican candidate for Freeholder Andrew Lucas today issued the following statement on last night’s Democrat nomination of J. Gregory Gibadlo for Freeholder:
“I commend Mr. Gibadlo on his recent nomination and look forward to hearing more about his vision for Monmouth County.
Recently, Mr. Gibadlo said he wanted to run our county like a business. Just last year Governor Corzine, a former Wall Street tycoon, said he wanted to run New Jersey like a business. What did Monmouth County get in return? We received a cut in municipal and school aid, an increase in the sales tax and skyrocketing property taxes.
If this is how Mr. Gibadlo wants to run Monmouth County, we cannot afford him.
Monmouth County is the best in the business when it comes to providing services to our residents. Our financial health is second to none. That’s why we’re one of just a handful of counties in the country to receive a triple A bond rating from the top three rating agencies. That rating only comes from proper fiscal management.
Before entering the race for county Freeholder, I carefully considered the responsibilities of the job and the leadership the people of this great county deserve. My running mates and I are committed to building upon our successes and moving this county in the right direction.”

The democrats have made another poor choice

A "Wireside Chat" from Chairman Adam Puharic
8/31/2006

Dear Fellow Republicans:
Tonight, the democrats chose Middletown resident J. Greg Gibadlo as the Freeholder candidate to be defeated by our team of Peters, Lucas, and Little. There has never been a more clear choice for the residents of our beloved Monmouth County. We can choose wisely, and vote for Rosemarie Peters, who has time and again won the affirmation of voters in Middletown. We can choose Andrew Lucas, a proven tax-fighter, who has earned the admiration of both democrats and Republicans in Manalapan. We can choose Freeholder Anna Little, who has taken a tough stance on spending in Monmouth County, and is fighting every day to make county government run as efficiently as possibly.
OR… we can choose the wrong people, dems who will run Monmouth County the same way their tax-and spend compatriots (Corzine and the government-shutting democrat legislature) have run Trenton. I pay enough in taxes. How about you? We must hold the line. Our candidates need your help. We must brace ourselves for the wheeled-in money, the mysterious big money donors from other counties who don’t live here, nor care about your quality of life. Tonight, make the decision that enough is enough, that Trenton is the problem – not Monmouth County. Will you stand with Peters, Lucas, and Little?
You can begin along this road to victory in the following ways:

1. Walk your districts this weekend. Host a block party and invite our candidates. Tell your neighbors that there is a difference, and Monmouth County Republicans are the reason for the outstanding quality of life we enjoy.

2. Call neighbors and friends in Middletown. They will tell you about the great job Rosemarie has done as Mayor and Committee member. We need her in Freehold.

3. Call neighbors and friends in Manalapan and Highlands. They will tell you that cutting taxes is possible, as Andrew has proven. They will tell you the leadership difference of Republicans who care, the way Anna, her Mayor and Council have proven in Highlands.

4. Say NO to taxing democrats. There is a better way. We can have lower taxes and outstanding services.
P.S. Don’t forget to brag about Monmouth County’s outstanding financial management. I was reminded by a close friend that Monmouth County Republicans have not only earned AAA bonding from one credit agency – we’re one of the few counties brave enough to be assessed by THREE! That’s right, three independent agencies have determined that our financial management is the gold standard in government. Not only do Monmouth Republicans run government like a business, but they are BEST in the business.
