Join us in remembering with the citizens of Middletown on September 11th at 7pm
A "Wireside Chat" from Chairman Adam Puharic

Dear fellow Republicans:
Five years ago this Monday, terrorist murderers shattered our illusion of protection and safety from extremism, killed almost 3,000 of our citizens, and forced our President’s hand in launching this War on Terror. It is important for us all to take a moment, reflect on our losses, and to share in the pride of this great nation – embodied in the daily sacrifice of firefighters, police, sheriff’s officers, emergency responders, and most all our courageous men and women in uniform. We mourn the loss of our brother and sister Americans, yet we know that we are a better nation for their sacrifice.
The lesson for me on this coming fifth anniversary of the September the 11th terror attacks is that when America is united, there is no force than can tear us apart. President George W. Bush once said that though terrorists might bring down our tall buildings, they can not tear apart the fabric that holds this great land together. As the son of immigrants from Croatia, I know that fabric is woven of freedom, opportunity and tolerance. I pray for unity in the name of our overseas troops, and hope you will join me in this humble prayer.
Below is information on the remembrance ceremony planned for Middletown on September the 11th at 7pm. As you well know, Middletown lost more residents to that terrible day than any other municipality in Monmouth County. I hope you will consider attending and standing side by side with your fellow citizens – of every political stripe – to send a strong message that America mourns those lost, but will never lose.
Remember, when we are united – nothing can stop us.

MIDDLETOWN — The township will pay tribute this year to the 37 residents it lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a ceremony at its World Trade Center Memorial on Church Street.
The memorial event will take place 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the memorial gardens, adjacent to the train station. It will be held rain or shine.
The ceremony will honor the victims and the victims' families during the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. It will feature a candle-lighting ceremony to commemorate the 37 victims.
Live music, a presentation of colors and remarks from community representatives also will be a part of the evening.
Mayor Thomas G. Hall said the ceremony will be simple and respectful.
After the event, those who attend will be invited to walk through the gardens, which have a landscaped walking path and have individual memorials for each lost resident.
Constructed by local contractors who donated time and materials, the memorial gardens were developed under the guidance of the nonprofit Middletown World Trade Center Committee, which still maintains the gardens.
